"Emel's music is organic. Her pure sweet voice tells a wonderful passionate story in every song." - Mo Pleasure: Earth Wind & Fire, MD: Stevie Wonder/Bette Midler / Michael Jackson
'Egg Shells' is a metaphor that masks the reality of an unhappy relationship. The song takes you on a lyrical journey and paints pictures with words, yet gives it a twist with harmonic and rhythmic uplifting melodies.
"Emel draws you in with a natural stage presence... the kind that makes her audience feel right at home. She tells stories about her life experiences and then sings these incredible original songs to paint the pictures of her stories
Otto Williams (David Guests MD)
“Catchy and punchy with it’s strong hook, and melody line draws you in. A clean, wholesome and happy track full of sunshine, a nice contrast to the lyrical message of the song. Very clever”
No.1 on The Reverbnation Pop/Folk chart & another of her songs "NOT AFRAID OF HEIGHTS" gained a Top 16 placing on the Adult World Singles Chart of the Top 40 chart.com.
Emel has also had two headline shows in London at The Pheasantry, The Forge, The Bedford, Jazz Cafe as well The Bulls Head in Barnes to name a few.
Emel Michael is a North London based singer / songwriter who composes all her music, has been producing and performing since she was sixteen. From the age of five, Emel has been a natural performer and artistic creative, her influences stem from an array of visual / musical arts and performance. This ability to craft original melodic arrangements that paint pictures with words, lyrics with character is what sets her apart. The creative imagination of the greats such as ‘Bob Dylan’, using metaphors in stories in her music, is what Emel has been compared to, along side Joni Mitchel.
Taking on a sound with intimate touches of tonality, quirkiness and clarity of voice, Emel Michael is loved along side her talkative personality transcending through her music, style and captivating stage presence.
‘EGG SHELLS’ – Emel say’s, “ I wrote this song when I was really annoyed with my boyfriend. No matter how many times I tried to tell him how I felt, I was never heard. He didn’t get the hints I gave him on a few occasions, so I put it into a song. Highlighting his dramatic way’s, and wanted him to get it. I added in ‘The white rabbits watch’ in reference to Alice In Wonderland.
I love Disney and fairy tale stories, it gives me scope to create a visual with elements that are light hearted, but put in a way to be serious. ‘Sick in bed’ (manflu dramas) I felt like I was running on dripping tap, then EGG SHELLS, was born and the rest is history, so was the guy”!
Not only does Emel love writing music and poetry she is a fine artist, developing amazingly life like portrait works, beautiful landscape fields, skies and sky scrapers.
From time to time Emel Michael can be seen performing at various open mic nights in and around London, which has helped immensely on Emel live performances such as Sessions 58, Jam Tart, MauMaus, & Troy Bar.
Art feeds my creative, it allows me to interpret the world around me, it some how evokes my emotion, sketching illustrations in my writing book. Those images come to life and I transfer them in to my music, they both go hand in hand.
Ever since I can remember I have held a pencil to paper. An obsession found me, aged 4 and took me on this journey. I was able to express my emotions through the pictures I drew, like my music it became my get away, found me closure and a sense of belonging a daydreamers dream come true.
Now I still draw, and paint working on commission pieces, this story continues.
